What is Whistleblowing?
Accountability forms a pivotal facet along with integrity and transparency. Whistleblowing, or the act of conscientiously reporting concerns, instances of misconduct, or illicit activities or breach of Al Masraf’s Professional Ethics and Code of Conduct Policy, within our organisation to the appropriate authorities, assumes an indispensable role in upholding the integrity, ethical standards, and transparency that define our principles. Whistleblowing is a communication by an individual to expose or inform upon, alleged fraudulent, immoral, unethical, or malicious activities, discrimination, or some other type of adverse occurrence within Al Masraf that violates a law, regulation, policy, morals and / or ethics.
How does Al Masraf’s Whistleblowing policy ensure confidentiality for those who report concerns?
To ensure the efficacy of whistleblowing, Management ensures confidentiality on every whistleblower complaint. Al Masraf’s Whistleblowing policy safeguards individuals who engage in protected disclosures, ensures they are free from any apprehension of retaliation or victimization. Transparent, timely and exhaustive investigations shall be made into each incident and appropriate measures will be taken to address the matter promptly. Ensuring accountability and fairness throughout the investigative process is crucial in fostering trust and upholding the integrity of our organisation.
Protected Disclosure
A protected disclosure is a complaint made in good faith to the right person in the right manner. Generally, protected disclosures involve issues such as the following a) Serious or gross misconduct b) Breaches of Al Masraf guidelines and other compliance policy guidelines c) Business or financial reporting related d) Suspected fraudulent activity e) Bribery f) Data and Security misconduct g) Retaliation or retribution against an individual who reports a concern.
Non-Protected Disclosures
Whistleblowing policy is not intended to address every concern that may arise in the workplace. For example, complaints of a personal nature or mere disagreements with Al Masraf business decisions do not constitute a whistleblower complaint. Whistleblowing policy does not discourage or limit the rights of individual from reporting, if staff makes an allegation in good faith, but it is not confirmed during investigation, no action will be taken against them. Whistleblowers should not be reluctant to report information because they are uncertain of who will believed in and/or whether the allegation can be proven.
